For a major property and casualty insurance company, Kamyar Consulting launched and successfully implemented a call center and the associated back office support systems. The project served as a transformational initiative, taking the company to world class levels of agent and customer support, while realizing significant savings by consolidating multiple support centers across the country and leveraging standardized systems and processes. The project was based on a Siebel solution.

In another global initiative for the same company, Kamyar Consulting led the Program management for the launch and implementation of largest project undertaken by the company to replace aging and inflexible legacy billing systems with a single state-of-the-art billing system based on SAP’s FS-CD product. This project took more than 3 years to complete and involved more than 300 people working in three countries.

For a major property and casualty insurance company, Kamyar Consulting led the Technical Architecture team to build and enhance a multi-layered-layer application framework based on Model-View-Controller architecture.  The framework utilized many design patterns, multi-policy caching, session management extensions, EAI services layer, and supported 6 separate applications.

The work included chairing the Technical Architecture Committee, setting technical standards, resolving technical issues, and reviewing and approving major design decisions.

The system was rolled out to more than 40,000 agents and 4 million policy holders nationwide.  The application was developed in Java , DB2, MQ Series and communicated with back-end legacy systems using CICS Transaction Gateway. The development environment used IBM’s WSAD and Rational suite of tools.

For a major travel and credit card company, Kamyar Consulting led the Release Management team in defining, planning, and managing execution of a major strategic initiative to build common reusable components (i.e. Utilities) used as building blocks of company wide internet-based (Business to Consumer) interactive systems for a global travel and financial services company. Based on packages and custom built software, the Utilities included e-statement, Customer Web Site Management (based on StoryServer™ by Vignette), customer profile and personalization, secure e-mail, self service help and automated e-mail servicing. The Utilities project put in place a foundation of reusable business components, which was used by multiple applications from different business units. Working with the Interactive Program Management team, the Release Management team defined the scope, schedule, and budget for 9 Utility projects. Worked with the client's Technology and Business leaders, in addition to their project managers.

For the B2B division of a major credit card company, Kamyar Consulting assessed readiness of a B2B portal to support International functionality. The portal was built based on ecProfiler™ (a user profiling engine) by ecCubed Inc. using Websphere Application Server, NES 3.62, JDK1.1.6 and Oracle 8.1.5 running on Solaris 2.6.2.  Provided recommendations for localization and overall architectural enhancements including upgrading application to use EJB and JSP under Websphere , and developed end-user administration tool to maintain presentation layer.  Utilized Websphere’s services for session management, database connection pooling, transaction management, and load balancing and fail-over support. We presented best practices for how B2B portals should be architected.

For a major consumer lending company in the sub-prime market, Kamyar Consulting led the interfaces team through definition and planning of the interfaces of a new consumer lending system for a global consumer lending company.  The scope of the system’s interfaces included temporary and permanent interfaces to legacy systems, and new and existing interfaces to stand-alone vendor packages as well as connections to information service providers (e.g. credit bureaus, banks, government agencies) in five countries. The new system was built using Microsoft technologies including VB5, SQL Server, Windows NT 4.0, ActiveX, and DCOM. We managed and coordinated the work of six teams including Application Development, Systems Services, Infrastructure, Testing, Legacy teams in UK and Australia.
